MOROTAI– The Morotai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) located in the Halmahera Islands- Maluku Islands is known to have beautiful beaches. Morotai SEZ is also currently equipped with advanced technology that is environmentally friendly, namely solar panel technology from Japan. Sandiaga Uno as the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) said that Morotai SEZ has geo-strategic, historical, and marine tourism advantages with stunning beach and underwater beauty.
This was conveyed by Sandiaga Uno while attending the Groundbreaking of Falila Square in the Morotai Special Economic Zone, Friday (25/11/2022).
Morotai SEZ will be equipped with facilities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in the form of a creative economy center and also Falila Loft Studio, which will later become an apartment unit. This is an effort to revive the economy and open up the widest possible business opportunities and employment opportunities.
“This development will revive the economy, prosper the community, and also refer to the principle of sustainable tourism because later developing an environmentally friendly industry and part of the acceleration of opening 4.4 million jobs in 2024. Which is our target I always fight for this,” said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga also appreciated PT Jababeka Morotai for developing the Morotai SEZ with the latest solar panel technology innovations from Japan.
“I am also grateful for the breakthrough, namely the trial of the latest solar panel technology from Japan, so later we can also label this as green energy, green economy, or green tourism. This is a pioneer in the use of clean energy, new energy, and renewable energy,” explained Sandiaga Uno.
Meanwhile, Basuri Tjahaja Purnama as President Director of PT Jababeka Morotai, said that his party targets to create 4000 jobs in developing the Morotai SEZ.
“Thank you for the commitment of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy who has been visit in the Indonesian SEZ, including the Morotai SEZ. We ask for his prayers and support to support Morotai. We believe Morotai will be outstanding,” Basuri said.
The Acting Regent of Morotai Island, Umar Ali, say thanked the government for turning Morotai Island into a SEZ. He hopes that Morotai SEZ can have an impact on opening up the widest possible job opportunities.
“We are also very grateful to the central government, especially President Jokowi, who declared Morotai as the center of the national economy. We believe this SEZ will be able to open up the widest possible employment opportunities. And Falila Square became a symbol of investment and SEZ in Morotai,” Umar said.
