Jababeka Morotai and Perempuan Indonesia Maju Sign MoU Related to Investment Marketing

JAKARTA – PT Jababeka Tbk through one of its subsidiaries, namely Jababeka Morotai, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Perempuan Indonesia Maju cooperation related to marketing investment projects owned by Jababeka Morotai in the Morotai Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

For your information, PT Jababeka Morotai is a business entity that develops and manages the Morotai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) covering an area of more than 1,500 ha engaged in tourism, industry, logistics, and export processing in Morotai Island Regency, North Maluku Province. Morotai SEZ has the advantages of geo-strategic, historical, and marine tourism with stunning coastal and underwater beauty. Meanwhile, Perempuan Indonesia Maju is a community or non-profit organization from Central Jakarta that aims to provide education and help realize that Indonesian women have equal and equal opportunities in contributing to the progress of the country.

The signing of the MoU was carried out by Basuri Tjahaja Purnama as President Director of PT Jababeka Morotai, Setiawan Mardjuki as Director of PT Jababeka Morotai with Maylana Togas as Chairman of Perempuan Indonesia Maju at the President Lounge, ground floor, Batavia Tower- Central Jakarta, Friday (21/10/2022).

After this signing, the two sides will collaborate to do marketing by finding or gathering investors to develop the Morotai SEZ.

“Thank you all for your support. May we jointly develop Morotai SEZ, and of course including Indonesia. This is because eastern Indonesia has the advantage of tourism which is a resource that can be (used) continuously or renewable energy. It is not natural resources, such as the mining (sector), that can be exhausted,” explained Basuri, in his speech.

Basuri also hopes that Perempuan Indonesia Maju can take the time to visit Morotai Island to see the Morotai SEZ directly, and make activities there, such as a seminar on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) for local communities. Thus, the cooperation between Jababeka Morotai and Perempuan Indonesia Maju can be “seen” and felt by the people of Morotai.

Meanwhile, Maylana Togas welcomed the signing of the MoU with Jababeka Morotai. Lana – her nickname – explained that the Perempuan Indonesia Maju had made a work plan and intended to invite the local Morotai community to be involved in its activities. Because, without the presence of local people, the empowerment of local communities will not be perfect or run well.

Lana also hopes that this MoU cooperation can run smoothly and develop into a common agreement to make it more legit and have a broad impact.

“We have made a plan and I have conveyed it to Mr. Basuri. Maybe we can make just one product (food) (for the beginning),” Lana said in her speech.

He said that his pilot project from this collaboration could be started by making food products, such as Samarinda’s typical krupuk amplang. Where, the Perempuan Indonesia Maju can teach the Morotai community how to make it and also the calculation of the business.

But it would be better if the morotai community, especially mothers, had their own Morotai specialty products that could be sold on Morotai Island and outside Morotai. However, for the first step, you can go through amplang crackers first. Because, apart from the fact that this krupuk amplang product is already running, the community empowerment movement is considered to be directly felt by the local community. “So, we asked for help later to be helped with local leaders and mothers,” Lana said.

“In addition, we will help make flyers and gimmicks on social media. Because social media is very important in today’s era to create a word of mouth. Nowadays, the word of mouth, is very important. That way, we can strengthen each other, fill each other. Hopefully, the cooperation will be stronger,” lana concluded.
